Green Clay Face Mask with Essential Oils
Making my own skincare products has made me realise that the ingredients can be simple, natural and nourishing. A face mask is one of the easiest things to make with just 2 or 3 ingredients and leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated. The clay stimulates blood which is pumped to the surface to promote healing, while exfoliating and removing dead cells and extracting dirt and impurities. I can see and feel the difference after using this face mask. My skin feels smoother, plumper and my makeup goes on easier.
I use a green clay which I buy from Neil’s Yard called Argiletz Laboratoires. You have to ask for it at the counter as it’s not out on the shop floor. Make sure you buy your green clay from a reputable source such as the Argiletz region in France where the clay is raw, pure, sun-dried, and non-ionized. Your essential oils should ideally be wild grown or organic.

doTERRA produce extremely high quality, wild crafted essential oils, most of which are suitable for internal and external use.
Instructions:
Pour some of the green clay powder into a small bowl. A little goes a long way so a dessert spoon would be enough for the face. Add a few drops of water to make the clay into a paste, then add 2-3 drops of your favourite essential oils. I use dōTERRA Lavendar and Melaleuca (tea tree) essential oils in my face pack but you can always experiment to find what you like and also what works for your skin type. Rose or Frankincense would be great choices if you are looking to soothe irritated skin. Both these oils are also anti-ageing and suitable for dry skin.
Apply the face pack and leave it on the skin until it dries, then gently wash it off with warm water using a cotton cloth or just your hands. Your face will look a little pink but that’s a good thing.
